Objetivos:  On successfully completing the course objectives at this level, learners will have the ability to name, ask for and find common products on sale at an optician´s. In familiar situations learners will greet people, ask about and understand symptoms that patients describe and recommend the treatment patients need. Inferring context and using interactive exercises to confirm understanding, learners will practice listening and complete sample dialogues that consolidate the vocabulary in the topic. You will complete written exercises that demonstrate you are capable of matching the written forms of words to the vocabulary used in conversations between clients and a professional optician. You will practice the terms in the exercises and keep a record of your pronunciation to monitor the progress you make and encourage reflection.

After this lesson, the learner will be able:

– Describe products and give explanations about the differences between products and their basic purpose.

– Complete written exercises that demonstrate you are confidently capable of matching the written forms of expressions to the sounds and images that correspond to them.

After this lesson, the learner will be able:

– Complete written exercises that demonstrate you are confidently capable of matching the written forms of expressions to the sounds and images that correspond to them.

After this lesson, the learner will be able:

In this real life situation, students will hear how a typical situation with a customer goes who needs new corrective eye wear.

In this dialogue, students will hear common questions asked by customers who have questions about prescriptions, eye tests and other typical products.

After this lesson, the learner will be able:

Optician – Conditions and parts of the eye

In this lesson, students will become familiar with vocabulary dealing with eye conditions and the anatomy of the eye. It’s presented in context in sentences and definitions are provided for each term or expression. They can practice their speaking and learn what each term means.

 

Optician – Equipment and corrective eyewear

This lesson will focus on the student learning vocabulary for the types of eqipment used in the optical industry. They will also be exposed to terms for a variety of options in correcting vision with eyewear.

 

Optician – Typical situation – Eye condition / New glasses

In this lesson students will develop their understanding and comprehension by listening and following along to a typical situation with a patient seeing an optician for an eye exam.

 

Optician – Dialogue – Asking questions about health and vision

Students will practice their freeform speaking skills by answering questions about eye conditions and overall health related to vision.

 

Optician – Consolidation

In this lesson, the student will review all course content they have studied in previous lessons through a series of interactive exercises.
